The Story of the Lighthouse
The Story of the Lighthouse
My wife Jolene and I chose the lighthouse to represent our office because of what it symbolizes. Standing rock solid, it is a pillar of strength rising up from the darkness of turbulent waters providing a guiding light to sailors trying to find their way. It was perfect, as my vision for our organization was to create a beacon leading people who were lost in a complicated sick care system towards health and wellness.
Today the lighthouse is ever present in our office, on our correspondence, and at every community event we attend. As our organization grows we view the lighthouse as the symbol of hope guiding all our family members home. To date we have been gifted nearly three hundred lighthouses in all shapes, sizes, and forms demonstrating that we are not the only ones moved by its presence. Like the purposeful principles upon which we are founded and operate, the lighthouse is built to stand the test of time.
Truth is truth, as it has always been and always will be.
Like darkness, hope exists in the definition of sickness, as it is not the presence of something but rather the absence of it. As the lighthouse illuminates darkness with light, Family First Chiropractic eradicates sickness by reestablishing health.
“It doesn’t matter how long we may have been stuck in a sense of our limitations. If we go into a darkened room and turn on the light, it doesn’t matter if the room has been dark for a day, a week, or ten thousand years – we turn on the light and it is illuminated. Once we control our capacity for love and happiness, the light has been turned on.”
- Sharon Salzberg (American Spritual Teacher and Author)
Each lighthouse is unique in its message the way the light intervals.
“…Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
“Light gives of itself freely, filling all available space. It does not seek anything in return; it asks not whether you are friend or foe. It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.”
